Out and About

Our Adventure To Carvoeiro

We have just come back from a short break to Carvoeiro in Portugal. Carvoeiro is a picturesque and traditional Portuguese resort town which is about 50 minutes drive from Faro airport. We stayed in Colina Village which is a resort of 73 villa self catering apartments, that were so pretty! Each one is painted in a different warm colour.

In the resort you are surrounded by large palm trees and stunning flowers. I couldn’t get enough of the colours with the blue sky and my obsession for palm trees has grown even more. You could spend a whole day just at the resort walking around and photographing the plants and colours.

At the end of the resort is a fantastic pool which our mini adults used every day. There’s a well stocked bar that does incredible coffee and you can order bar food to eat by the pool side.

It was also nice in the evening. After our adventures out of the resort, it was lovely to go and sit by the pool, get a cocktail, relax and cool down.

We caught a shuttle to the town of Carvoeiro, which only took ten minutes. Such a cute place with a beach that was covered in shells and rock formations. Coffee shops and pretty stalls are everywhere and there was such a lovely atmosphere to the place.

You can buy straw bags, fabric boho tapestries, boho jewellery and cute ornaments. Of course we had to try the Portuguese version of an egg custard called Pastéis de Nata.

Carvoeiro is a walker’s paradise with numerous hiking routes and trails that follow the steep hills and sheer cliffs of the coastline. It is a bit of a hike and hard in the heat but it was well worth it because of the views. We also met a cat at a one of the viewing points which befriended our son.

The Algar Seco rock formations are just a short walk from Carvoeiro. This blew our minds as it was so beautiful! There is a lovely bar situated in this spot with paths to a natural lagoon and small cave.

From here you can walk along wooden boardwalk to the town. Such incredible views with hand carved steps into the rocks leading you to mini caves.

In short it was an absolutely incredible place to visit and a lovely place to feel chilled and be still. We had the best time and are planning to go back and explore some more!
